All-Star Academy is an inclusive and creative arts project offering singing, dancing, drama and arts & crafts to children in our local communities.
Amy Neill- The founder and Principal of All-Star Academy, applied for funding as part of the York St John and SODEXO Aspiration Fund whilst studying at York St John University for her undergraduate degree in Drama: Education and Community in 2016.
Once the application had been accepted, Amy was invited to a Dragons Den-style pitch. Amy pitched the idea of All-Star Academy to a panel of business professionals alongside Laura Castle, one of our honorary founders.
The project secured funding, which supported the start-up cost for an expressive and creative performing arts school, and so ‘All-Star Academy’ was born.
All-Star Academy’s primary aim is to facilitate children in exploring the vibrant and creative world that theatre can provide.
All-Star Academy would like to offer families an opportunity to experience what renowned Stage School’s Offer – but at a cost that is more inclusive, enabling more children the opportunity to shine creatively!
By incorporating arts and crafts alongside all three performing arts disciplines children will not only get to be in the limelight and star in the production, but they will have made their very own props, helped to design the sets and costume too! – Something we find helps each child, to develop a sense of ownership which, in turn, instils a sense of pride in their creative endeavours.
Our All-Star Team are very passionate about the arts and working with children, empowering children and giving them the opportunities to access their rights to culture.
Partaking in creative and expressive arts is know to build children’s confidence, communication, sense of individuality and it even helps develop reading skills, all this, plus lots of fun and it helps your children discover new and creative talents!

Holme Valley u3a started in 2014 and now has about forty activity groups . We cover the villages of the Holme Valley in West Yorkshire , with most of our members and activities in and around Holmfirth .
We are part of the wider u3a movement.
Retired and semi-retired people come together and learn together, not for qualifications but for the sheer joy of discovery. Members share their skills and life experiences: the learners teach and the teachers learn, and there is no distinction between them.
