CoWork@The Tech has re-opened for those of you who would like an environment to work in away from home.

To operate within the #Covid guidelines we will be limiting the number of people allowed in the room and the furniture will be rearranged so that people are spread out. We also have supplies of gloves and hand sanitiser and will limit the number of people in the kitchen and corridor.

You can book to use the facility on The Tech Website

We are very excited to announce that on Friday 15th May Holmfirth Tech Ltd, a local Community Benefit Society (CBS) completed the purchase of the ex-Adult Education Centre (now known simply as The Tech) from Kirklees college.

The CBS had to go through a long and complex legal process to sort out the charitable covenant but the time and effort taken have proven worth it.  The Tech is now owned by Holmfirth Tech Ltd a local community benefit society and will remain in the ownership of local people.

It has been the property of Kirklees College since 1974 but will now provide a creative hub for education, wellbeing and enterprise of local people. It's great to have The Tech back Holme!

This is a significant milestone. HTL has occupied the Tech for two years under license and the way in which the use of the building has grown in this time has shown how much the Valley needs a hub for creativity and education and small businesses. The contribution and support given by local people, particularly the Activities Leaders and donors are very much appreciated.

This is also a good opportunity to update you on what has been happening since the doors were closed at the end of March.

The Tech was asked to act as the #Community Anchor Contact us on during the #Corona-19 crisis. Since then, Sarah Broxton the newly appointed Centre Manager has been working flat out with the Holme Valley COVID Mutual Aid and other groups to coordinate their responses to requests for help from people who are in dreadful situations. She is also administering the Holme Valley South Emergency #Hardship Fund. The Tech has been the busiest closed building in Holmfirth!

The Childrens Art School has also been using the empty space to put together art packs for distribution to children across Kirklees.

Plans are now being made to get The Tech back into action after the lock down whilst making sure everyone remains safe.

On the money front, enough funds have been raised to get this far but more will be needed to get the building back up to tip top condition and fit for future use. If you have any ideas for fundraising please let us know.

Again, many thanks for everyone for all your support - let's look forward to seeing each other in The Tech again before too much longer.

    Our Lockdown Funk is here!

The band worked so hard on this project and we are extremely excited to share this with you, straight from our living rooms, kitchens, gardens and bath tubs! We even teamed up with a special guest band leader Tom Harding of Samba Ninja, Sydney Australia.

Today (08.05.20) we were going to see Newton Faulkner performing at Holmfirth Picturedrome, but sadly that was not to be. So instead we have recorded our Funk, featuring a section inspired by the song Stay and Take. Newton Faulkner this is for you -sorry we couldn't see you in person.

If you like our video please share with all your friends to spread the funky vibes.

All the activities planned for the next few weeks at The Tech have been cancelled.  The Tech is available for use for community purposes, if required.  As one of Kirklees' Third Sector Leaders' Community Anchors, we will play our part and do what is needed to help the people of Holmfirth and the Holme Valley get through.

We are also working very closely with the Parish Council and the Holmfirth Mutual Aid group and will update our web site once we know more.

In these challenging times we want to assist in making sure that the community who use our facility stay safe and healthy by adhering to the suggested policies laid out by the government. As a building in support of the community however we have taken the decision that we will keep our doors open and if needs be will act as a distribution hub for the Holme Valley.

We are one of Kirklees Third Sector Leader’s Community Anchors and have offered to help the Holmfirth Mutual Aid group which, through the help of volunteers, is assisting those forced to self-isolate.

Some activities have been cancelled as a precaution and in line with Government advice. Individual activity leaders have been contacting their own group members directly to determine how they want to proceed. If you are wondering what to do please contact your activity leader direct.

If you have any proposals for how the building can effectively be utilised during this crisis please contact us by emailing or message us via our Facebook page

This is a fast moving event and the situation could change at anytime, as we have witnessed over the past few days, so we will constantly review the decisions being made in terms of the building and keep you updated.

Please keep an eye on social media - Facebook and Twitter and our news page on the website for further updates.

We hope you agree with our decision.

    Stay safe
